Business Dev & Marketing Manager
Ryan Rutledge joined CLT Joules in the spring of 2016. Rutledge brings five years of startup experience operating in the environmental and energy spaces in the southeast to the Joules program. Rutledge has worked with a number of startups in the region to develop business models, structure strategic partnerships, and manage intellectual property.
Starting in 2013, Rutledge formed the Charlotte based environmental remediation firm, eosMYCO. Initially a biotech company addressing soil remediation concerns, he found opportunity in the coal ash remediation space and worked with Duke Energy and AREVA to bring to market a “sustainable mining” solution for coal ash. During this period, Rutledge was awarded the Innovation Fund of North Carolina grant from the Kauffman Foundation, was awarded grand prize in the biotech category of the Charlotte Venture Challenge, and was recognized by Ventureprise, NCSEA, and CLT Joules as an outstanding regional innovator.
Rutledge received his MS in biology and environmental science, as well as his BS in biology from UNC Charlotte. He is married with two children, and resides in the Plaza Midwood neighborhood of Charlotte.
