Bob Irvin joined CLT Joules as Executive Director in January, 2016. A 25-year industry vet, Irvin brings a depth of experience in business development, strategy, system planning, technology ventures, and leadership development to the Joules program.

Irvin’s strategic and financial leadership experience includes transformational and growth activities at three major utilities including TVA, Duke Energy and NYSEG.  As the Senior Vice President, Strategy, Financial Planning and Business Development at TVA, Irvin repositioned the federal utility to compete with Southeastern peers.  At Duke Energy, Irvin served as the Vice President, Market & Portfolio Analysis where he developed growth strategy and a portfolio of energy assets to succeed in an increasingly competitive marketplace.   As the Director, Corporate Development at NYSEG, Irvin led the diversification from an electric utility into gas distribution and energy services.

Irvin has most recently served as a strategic advisor to investor-owned utilities primarily focused on disruptive technologies and enterprise growth.  He succeeds former CLT Joules Executive Director Lori Collins, who recently departed for an international opportunity. 

Irvin received his MBA from UNC-Chapel Hill, MEM (Master of Environmental Management) from Duke University and his BA in Biology from McDaniel College.  He is married with three children and resides in Davidson, NC.
